The Petroleum Training and Education Fund (PETROFUND) and SBM) Offshore have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on building capacity within Namibia’s oil and gas sector. This significant partnership aims to foster a skilled Namibian workforce ready to excel in the upstream petroleum industry.
The signing ceremony, which took place on 11 February 2025 at SBM Offshore’s offices in Windhoek, was attended by PETROFUND Chief Executive Officer Nillian Mulemi and SBM Offshore Business Development Director for Africa Ousmane Aidara, who both addressed the media on the importance of this collaboration for the future of Namibia’s oil and gas sector.
“We are thrilled to partner with SBM Offshore in this initiative, which marks a major step forward in our efforts to equip Namibians with the necessary skills for a sustainable, thriving petroleum industry,” said Mulemi.
Mr Aidara highlighted, “This partnership reflects our commitment to strengthening the local workforce and ensuring that Namibia plays a key role in the growth of the oil and gas industry.”
The event was also witnessed by distinguished guests, including representatives from the Malaysian High Commission to Namibia and the Dutch Consulate, further highlighting the international significance of this collaboration.
The MoU aims to provide essential training and education opportunities, enabling the development of a highly skilled workforce that will drive the growth and sustainability of Namibia’s oil and gas industry.
