The Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF), in partnership with SBM Offshore and TotalEnergies EP Namibia, is proud to announce the successful completion of our exclusive workshop on Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) Systems. This event marks a significant milestone in our ongoing efforts to educate and empower young Namibians in the energy sector. The workshop, held at the SBM Offices in Windhoek, brought together industry leaders, experts, and enthusiastic participants to explore the technical aspects of FPSOs. As Namibia races towards its first Final Investment Decision (FID), understanding the intricacies of FPSO systems is crucial for the country’s offshore field development.

Workshop Highlights:

  • FPSO Fundamentals: Participants were introduced to offshore field
development, industry history, and an overview of FPSO systems.
  • Key Components: Detailed sessions covered the hull, topsides, mooring, and
    offloading systems.
  • Project Phases: Insights into the execution phases and the evolution of FPSOs
    were shared.
  • Hull Design Training: Attendees delved into hull construction, marine systems,
    and mooring systems.

The workshop featured esteemed presenters, including Mr. Thomas Lorin, Offshore FPSO Concept Department Manager at SBM Offshore, with over 20 years of experience, and Mr. Hervé P.-Beaudoux, Offshore Vessel Technical Authority at SBM Offshore, with 19 years of industry experience. Their expertise provided invaluable insights and fostered a deeper understanding of FPSO technology among the
participants. The event was well attended and received positive feedback for its insightful and comprehensive content. Participants left with a greater appreciation of FPSO systems and their significance in Namibia’s energy future
