As preparations gain momentum for the highly anticipated Namibia Oil and Gas Conference, excitement is mounting among delegates, energy professionals, and international stakeholders. Set to run over four days, this third edition of the conference is expected to offer valuable insights, create meaningful dialogue, and foster networking opportunities centered around unlocking Namibia’s energy potential.
Themed “From Exploration to Action: Positioning Namibia as the Next Energy Frontier,” this year’s conference will further cement Namibia’s growing status in the global energy conversation. Speaking during a recent media interview, Jason Kasuto, Chairperson of the Economic Association of Namibia, outlined the key objectives of the event and the broader significance of dialogue platforms like the conference in shaping Namibia’s socio-economic landscape.

As the conference has grown in stature and reach, it has sparked the emergence of several influential partnerships and initiatives. These collaborations reflect a broader pan-African ambition that goes beyond Namibia’s borders “We are happy to have seen the signing of various MOUs at our conferences, but what was interesting is that these MOUs also had a panAfrican approach. So, we are happy to have seen MOUs with Nigeria, Angola being signed. This year we have brought on board a partnership also with the Namibia Youth in Energy Forum. We think that they add quite a lot of value in ensuring that the youth voice in the energy sector is heard. And we believe as we grow, potential deals can be signaled via this platform, but we are happy with what we have achieved so far across the pan-African space in terms of some of the milestones of signed MOUs to date,” he stated.

Additionally, Kasuto highlighted how the conference has played a key role in positioning Namibia as a leading and attractive player in the global energy landscape, leveraging the country’s unique combination of natural assets, political stability, and strategic partnership “Namibia makes it on one end, I think that we need to give credit to our stable democracy, our beautiful country, beautiful environment, great weather, especially in August. So those are some things that are just enablers for us to create a platform where people would love to come to, but mostly because we ensure that we are bringing top decision makers in the oil and gas industry internationally, both voices in terms of thought leadership and as well the industry itself. What that does is those voices carry a certain global influence which in turn then positions Namibia within the sphere of the market but we also remain true to our core purpose which is what we say we are complementary to the range of other conferences that do take place across the country they all serve a very important role, we really aim for our dialogue to reach the masses in the country, but at the same time maintain our international significance and put together an event at a world-class level,” he added.

Furthermore, Kasuto emphasized that conference has not only elevated Namibia’s profile on the global stage but has also ignited national interest in active participation and knowledge exchange within the energy sector. He further encouraged Namibians to see the value in being part of the process. “I think that it’s important for us to learn, grow and to participate. Let’s not shy away from dialogues and platforms as a country. Let us participate so that each one teaches the other. So that if you go, hopefully from there, you are able to impart knowledge to others as well. And we can all embrace this industry and be able to see to what extent we can benefit. Of course, it is not going to employ everyone, It’s not going to be as broad-based as sometimes people may think, but it’s definitely going to make a difference, so be part of that difference,” he concluded.

With continued interest from global players and growing momentum at home, the Namibia Oil and Gas Conference remains a powerful platform for driving collaboration, empowering youth, and influencing policy, paving the way for Namibia’s role as a leading energy frontier.
