Greenhands Namibia is growing faster than expected. What began as a plan for four training events in Windhoek and Walvis Bay has now expanded to five, following strong interest from industry partners and local stakeholders.
At the request of TotalEnergies, the programme will host an additional event in Lüderitz on 30 September. TotalEnergies EP Namibia in partnership with Atlas Nextwave, ||Kharas Regional Council, Luderitz Waterfront Development Company and the Namibia Youth Energy Forum (NYEF) are sponsoring this day, underlining its commitment to building local capability in the region where it operates.
Bringing training closer to the community
The training in Lüderitz will equip 30 local youth residents, giving them insight into offshore energy careers and preparing them with the skills and mindset needed to succeed. By adding Lüderitz to the programme, Greenhands Namibia ensures that opportunities are not limited to the capital or the main port city but also reach communities further south.
The training covers key modules including, Introduction to offshore operations; Basic rigging and lifting; Emergency response procedures; Industry standards and expectations etc.
Industry and community working together
Greenhands Namibia is designed as a collaborative initiative, bringing together governments, operators and training providers with one shared goal: to prepare Namibians for the offshore sector. The involvement of TotalEnergies in Lüderitz is a clear example of how industry partners can play an active role in building inclusive pathways into energy careers.
A lasting impact
By the end of September, five Greenhands Namibia events will have taken place in Windhoek, Walvis Bay and Lüderitz. Together, these sessions represent the start of a long-term effort to equip Namibians with the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead in the country’s emerging offshore industry.
This impactful collaboration reflects TotalEnergies commitment to skills transfer and youth empowerment in Namibia’s energy sector. Together, we are building capacity and opening doors for the next generation of Namibian Oil & Gas professionals.
Greenhands Namibia continues to grow, proving that when industry and community join forces, the results can reach far beyond expectations.
